LABORATORIO INTERNAZIONALE DI ARCHITETTURA E PAESAGGIO
INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP OF LANDSCAPE AND ARCHITECTURE

The idea of a built Nature, of a world where imagining, designing and conceiving complex systems for natural and anthropic landscapes, is the theoretical background of this international workshop of landscape and architecture. The project of urban and metropolitan landscape transformations and the relationships with environmental systems are the scenary for investigating the possibilities of a new idea of city. Then the workshop could be a platform for discussing about landscape, culture and nature, transformation and conservation, issues that the city of Cagliari shows with extreme clearness. Likewise, we can re-read the city as a great, potential, urban learning space. A space for stimulating action and a bearer of knowledge. One of the goals of the workshop is to identify this kind of spaces in the city, reading and interpreting hidden potentialities and, through the project, revealing them and strengthening its active and formative role. The design topics will be oriented to some unresolved areas, knots of unfinished urbanity and a contaminated nature. These are the places where testing different approaches to the project of cities, public space, and built nature. Various topics will be tackled, including the infrastructure area, the parks, the gardens and the green architectures, and their relationship with the urban environment, the waterways the canal system, the waterfront project. The laboratory is structured in working groups coordinated by one or more teachers and tutors. These ateliers are the places where the knowledge of the context and the topics of the project will be developed until the in-depth analysis of the theoretical and technical aspects. Visiting Critics will discuss about the works of the ateliers that will finish with the exhibition of the works and the notice of the results to the public during the “International Meeting of Architecture and Landscape” which will take place in Cagliari from 27th to 30th July 2017. The ateliers will be supported by seminars and conferences and will be complemented by the participation in the activities of the International Meeting of Architecture and Landscape, which will take place in Cagliari from 27 to 30 July 2017. Laboratory activities will take place at the DICAAR facilities of the University of Cagliari. Official languages of the seminar: Italian and English.
